Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk room temperature

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract.
  4. Alternate adding the dry mixture and milk into the creamed butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely before slicing. Optionally, frost with buttercream or dust with powdered sugar.
