Ingredients
  

Cake Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk room temperature
Frosting
  • 2 cups whipped cream or buttercream divided and colored with food coloring
  • sprinkles for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 6-inch cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture until smooth.
  5. Divide batter into pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. Divide frosting into bowls, color as desired, and decorate cake layers.
  7. Stack layers with frosting in between, cover with colorful frosting, and top with sprinkles.

Notes
