- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round 8-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 cup of cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda.
- In a separate bowl, cream 1/2 cup of butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add 2 eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and 1 cup of buttermilk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Add 2 teaspoons of black food coloring to achieve a deep, dark color.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
- Once the cakes are cool, frost them with the buttercream frosting. You can use a Scorpio-themed cake topper for added flair.
- Sprinkle gold edible glitter on top of the frosting to give the cake a magical touch, embodying the mysterious and alluring nature of Scorpio.
