- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda.
- In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the dried fruits and candied peel. Stir in the vanilla extract and brandy (or rum).
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
