- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour melted butter into a 9-inch cake pan and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over it.
- Arrange pineapple rings and cherries decoratively on top of the sugar layer.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and pineapple juice to the wet mixture, starting and ending with flour.
- Pour the batter over the arranged fruit. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Serve warm or at room temperature.
