Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Butter (for frosting)
  • 3 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Gold edible glitter

Equipment

  • 9-inch round cake pans

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. To make the frosting, beat the butter and powdered sugar together until smooth. Add vanilla extract and heavy cream, and beat until light and fluffy.
  8. Once the cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one cake layer with buttercream, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  9. Decorate the cake with gold edible glitter and any other desired decorations, such as Libra symbols or elegant touches. Serve and enjoy!
