Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
- To make the frosting, beat the butter and powdered sugar together until smooth. Add vanilla extract and heavy cream, and beat until light and fluffy.
- Once the cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one cake layer with buttercream, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
- Decorate the cake with gold edible glitter and any other desired decorations, such as Libra symbols or elegant touches. Serve and enjoy!
