Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3 eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Buttercream Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter soft
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pink food coloring
Decorations
  • heart sprinkles
  • colored sugar decorations

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter, then add eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Pour batter into pan and bake 30–35 minutes.
  6. Make buttercream by beating butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla. Tint with pink coloring.
  7. Frost the cooled cake and add decorative sprinkles and piped borders.
