Ingredients
  

Chocolate Base
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cream Cheese Swirl
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
Fruit Layer
  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam or any fruit preserve

Equipment

  • 9-inch springform pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Electric mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour half the batter into the pan. Dollop cream cheese mixture and raspberry jam over it.
  5. Spoon remaining batter on top and swirl gently with a knife.
  6. Bake 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before slicing.

Notes

Experiment with different jams—blueberry, apricot, or strawberry all work wonderfully.
