- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture. Mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter between the pans and bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden and springy to touch. Cool completely.
- For the buttercream: beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar. Add cream and vanilla for a smooth consistency.
- Place one cake layer on a turntable, spread a layer of buttercream, and top with the second layer. Frost the entire cake evenly.
- Using a piping bag with a star nozzle, create rosettes or swirls around the edges. Decorate with berries, edible flowers, and mint leaves.
