- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch pans.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients with milk until smooth. Divide into pans.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden. Let cool completely.
- For the compote, simmer berries, sugar, and lemon juice for 10 minutes until thickened. Cool before use.
- Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Layer cake with berry compote and whipped cream. Frost the outside and decorate with berries and gold accents.
