  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk room temperature
Frosting and Decoration
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • berries, candies, or themed toppers for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the mixture until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter between pans and bake 35–40 minutes, until golden and firm.
  6. Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  7. Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar into stiff peaks for frosting.
  8. Decorate each cake with berries, colorful sprinkles, or themed toppers like unicorns or stars.
