  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup applesauce unsweetened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples peeled and chopped

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
