Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk, making sure no lumps remain. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove the sauce from heat and stir in shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
  5. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.
