Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork (optional)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup or barbecue sauce for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for glaze, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let it soak for a few minutes.
  3. Add ground beef, ground pork (if using), chopped onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and paprika. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep meatloaf tender.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared loaf pan.
  5. In a small bowl, mix ketchup (or barbecue sauce) with brown sugar, if using. Spread evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!

Tips

  • For extra flavor, add finely chopped bell peppers or carrots into the meat mixture.
  • Use a mix of ground beef and pork for a juicier meatloaf.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day.
  • Optional: Brush more glaze halfway through baking for a thicker, caramelized topping.
